Shabbat Services

Shabbat is at the heart of our synagogue’s life.

Our services are in both English and Hebrew and follow Liberal Judaism’s prayer book, Siddur Lev Chadash, as well as our own FPS siddur. Services are led by Rabbi Rebecca and supported by musicians and skilled lay leaders.

With the benefit of strong music and Rabbi Rebecca’s inclusive approach to service leading, our Shabbatot are known to be refreshing, reflective and restorative.

Friday evening – Kabbalat Shabbat (6.30pm)

At Finchley Progressive Synagogue, Hutton Grove

‘On the seventh day God rested’ and so we begin our rest by welcoming Shabbat with the lighting of the candles and community prayer.

Chavurah suppers, where members bring food and share a Shabbat meal together, follow the service on the third Friday of every month. Please contact or call 02084464063 to let us know if you’re planning to join!

Saturday morning – Shacharit (11.00am)

At Finchley Progressive Synagogue, Hutton Grove

On the first Saturday of each month we have Shabbat B’yachad, our family service. These are relaxed services, with plenty of egg shakers and cuddly Torah scrolls to go around.

On other weeks you can expect a more traditional service, though children are welcome at all our services.
