FPS has been campaigning for two years for better access to bus travel for asylum seekers. Asylum seekers in accommodation that provides meals get just £8.86 a week for all of their other expenses, but a single bus journey costs £1.75. They just can’t afford to get the bus.
Last Valentine’s Day, we held a rally at City Hall to ask Seb Dance for a date – and he said yes! And in November, we won a vote at the Greater London Assembly with Assembly Members calling on Sadiq Khyan to make bus travel more accessible for asylum seekers. We have built a strong working relationship with City Hall and the GLA, but negotiating the details is slow work. We need a big turnout on the 25th to demonstrate widespread support and to maintain the momentum of the campaign.
