What to expect – death and mourning at FPS.
Death is part of Jewish lifecycle. Jewish traditions support mourners and community through this rite of passage.
We have tried to provide the information you will need when someone dies. You are always welcome to phone the synagogue for additional information and support.
1. Phone Rabbi Rebecca
Rabbi Rebecca will guide you through the practical and emotional aspects of death and mourning: 07939 117480.
2. Phone the funeral directors
Ronnie King or one of his colleagues will be available at any time: 020 8368 7453
3. Obtain the death certificate
4. Register the death
You need to register a death at a registry office local to you.
5. Community support
When you are ready, we have members who will offer bereavement support and care.
Please do tell Rabbi Rebecca if you are expecting a bereavement. She will offer immediate support and guidance, officiate at the funeral and prepare the eulogy. The bereaved family will discuss with Rabbi Rebecca the type of service and mourning period they require. Mourners vary considerably in what they require and how traditional they want to be.
