President

Paul Silver-Myer

He has given lifelong service to our synagogue and to the wider mother movement of liberal Judaism. Paul is both an accountant and a therapist and brings a great graciousness and dignity to the role.

Chair

Beverley Kafka

She brings a wealth of experience of congregational life from special education to welfare. You may see Beverley on the bimah leading services as often as she leads our council meetings.

Vice Chair

Margot Katz

One of our four generational families and member since she was 12, Margot has a strong background in HR and organisational structures. She dedicates much time now to our synagogue bringing her brand of thoughtfulness and efficiency.

Amanda D’Oyly

Amanda joined FPS with her husband and two children in 2021, having been drawn to the community for its caring and inclusive ethos, and contemporary and thoughtful approach. As an accountant working in the banking industry, Amanda brings expertise in financial control, planning and risk management to the council.

Hon Sec

Sharon Michael

Sharon joined FPS with her family 15 years ago. She brings flair to our festival events and now as a member of Council is valued for her creativity and sense of community. She marked her adult Bat Mitzvah with a group here last year.

Dan Porter

Having grown up at Kol Chai, Dan recently joined us at FPS with his partner. He brings skills as a property lawyer, important for us as we negotiate our building project for our 70th year.

Olivia Sopel

Olivia joined the synagogue in 2021 after moving to Finchley with her husband. Having grown up in Brighton, she found in FPS a shul that mirrored her liberal values and focus on community outreach. She is a broadcast journalist at the BBC and loves listening to people’s stories and what matters to them.

Dan Epstein

Daniel is a first-generation member of FPS. He grew up in the local area and joined the community in 2020 with his partner and their two children. As a hospital doctor partly specialising in geriatric medicine, he hopes to bring both expertise and compassion to the synagogue council. Daniel is deeply committed to enhancing FPS’s welcoming and inclusive spirit, with a focus on supporting the growth of the community and ensuring that the needs of all members are met, from the youngest to the eldest.

James Levy

James has been a member for over 20 years. He particularly likes Shabbat Resouled although is a regular at all our services. As a litigation lawyer he brings great clarity and focus to our council and leads our Building Project with his incisive thinking.

David Lewis

David has been a member at FPS for the best part of 20 years. He has recently retired from an almost forty year career in broadcast television news firstly at Reuters and latterly at ITV News as a cameraman/editor with a wealth of experience both in the UK and overseas. Since lockdown, he has put those skills to work live streaming services for FPS, and now that he has more time to spare, wishes to commit to our community to a greater extent.
